Beyond Individual Therapy – Key Ideas in Therapy (3/3)

Initially most forms of psychotherapy are focused on the individual client and their individual problems. Later, however, researchers emphasize the importance of looking beyond the individual – their relationships and the wider social systems in which they live. This film tells the story of the development of system ideas and gives an understanding of how the customer context is beneficial for counselors and psychotherapists in all therapeutic approaches, as each individual client is inevitably embedded in the social system.

This animation was developed by Dr. Andreas Wosler, senior lecturer in psychology at Open University, and Damn Fine Media.

The material is related to the degree of open university counseling (X09).
