Whether it's sunspot, flu or insect cramps – we discover how you can protect yourself from typical summer illnesses.

Sunstroke

One of the most common reasons why visitors visit a doctor during the summer is sunshine. This can happen when the body – and especially the head – was exposed to sunlight for too long. People usually suffer from headaches, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

Those who experience such symptoms after sunbathing should immediately go to shade, cool the body with cold covers and drink plenty of water. If a circulatory collapse occurs, a visit to the doctor is inevitable.

To prevent it from getting so far, you should make sure to protect your head from direct sunlight with the help of a hat or a fabric. You need to spend the night in the shade. Generally do not overuse or drink enough water to protect the body from dehydration.

Dangerous bites of insects

Summer, sun, mosquitoes – not only do people feel at home in the warm years, even mosquitoes, ticks and Co are active in warmer temperatures. Most domestic insects in Germany are fortunately harmless. But that could change: so far only tropical regions have been exposed to dense fever isolated in Europe. Good news: In most cases, urinary bladder infections are uncommon, but they quickly get infected. If you are affected, you can do something good for your bladder with a warm water bottle and a sitz bath in the exquisite chamomile flower. In addition, make sure that you drink enough to well rinse the urinary tract. If there is no improvement after a few days, consult your doctor, as it is necessary in this case to treat antibiotics.

In order not to have a bladder infection, you should wear dry clothes after bathing and swimming as soon as possible. Avoid sitting on the floor or on other cold surfaces. As a general rule, if you drink a lot, you will quickly wash bacteria from your body and prevent it from cystitis.

Summer Flu

Even if flu viruses are typical for winter time, you are not immune to them even in the summer. This is not always a true flu, which is accompanied by a very high temperature, but mostly influenza infection. Causes of cough, nasal discharge, throat and / or body sores during the summer are typically enteroviruses, which are easily spread through the handlebars, track brackets or light switches.

As a rule, the symptoms of flu infections should be withdrawn within a few days and may be alleviated by medication such as cough or nose spray. If you want to prevent summer influenza, make sure you eat balanced and rich in vitamins during the summer, wash your hands regularly and avoid large rooms under cooling.
