Two schools in Bünde were awarded "Healthy Schools"

Honorable are Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule and Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium. There were 1,500 students and 70 teachers involved. Primary schools can be attended for the first time in the upcoming school year.

Health, promotion of health and prevention are topics that also belong to school life, and thus schedule. Six secondary schools and higher vocational schools from Herford County received a reward for their exemplary work in these areas in the Herforder Kreishaus district. To apply for a bid, schools are enrolling at the beginning of the school year and must spend at least five measures of health promotion for the pupils and the measure for teachers throughout the school year. The schools are presented in the "Healthy Schools in the Wittekinda" guide with the Freiherr-vom-Stein High School and Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule, Elisabeth-von-Pfalz-Berufskolleg and Friedrich-List-Berufskolleg and Gesamtschule Friedenstal of Herford and University Bertolt Brecht from Löhne. A total of about 1,500 students and more than 70 teachers participated in the project "Healthy School". The Herford Physician and Director of Health Department, Marie-Luise Kluger, presented their schools with a certificate and a particularly healthy price – with the "Think Sport Package". All six certified "healthy schools" will receive fruit baskets. The Guide to "Healthy Schools in the Wittekinds Round" will present schools with different offers and measures you can choose, but they can also be active and organize thematic weeks, for example. Various measurements in the guide are thematically appealing to both students and teaching staff. Topics include workshops for healthy eating, promoting physical activity, stress prevention and addiction or sexual education. All interested schools can apply until September 13, and some schools also offer their own health days, and a program for nurses or a garden project with raised beds for healthy eating is also provided. The "Healthy Schools" project team consists of representatives of the Department of Health and School, Culture and Sports, AOK NordWest, BKK HMR, Diakonisches Werk in Herford district, IKK classic, National Education and Health NRW program as well as teachers. The prize is also an introduction to the upcoming school year, and new is that primary schools can also participate in the program from 2019 to 2020 and the program will enter the third round from September 2019 to June 2020. All interested schools and vocational schools can to participate in the program September 13 and after the successful course will be certified as a "healthy school".
