Whole30: complete bans

How the diet works: "Whole30" is a food program that was developed by American couple Dallas and Melissa Hartwig in 2009. Some food groups must be avoided in this program for 30 days.

Prohibited are:

  • Sugar in any form: maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, agave nectar, xylitol, stevius and sugar in alcohol. (Fruit is allowed, fruit juice can be used to sweeten the food.)
  • any form of grain (barley, wheat, rye, oats, corn, rice, sorghum, bulgur, amaranth, buckwheat, quinoa, bran etc.)
  • Mahogany: Most types of beans, lichens and peanuts, as well as all soy products. (Mangetout and peas and normal peas are permitted.)
  • all dairy products – cow's, goat's and sheep's milk products – yogurt, milk, butter and cheese.
  • Sulfites, carrageenan and glutamate.

That's what nutritionist Uwe Knop says: "Access to" permitted "and" forbidden "foods as well as strict and strict rules of adherence to rules have sectarian features – this nutrition may be a fast path to a long eating disorder."

Diet tablets: empty promises

How do they work: Diet pills themselves predict a fast weight loss and a promising promise that many people with excess body weight will settle into a hopelessly unsuccessful hope. The active ingredients are such. Like L-carnitine, choline, lecithin, chromium, flavonoids or conjugated linoleic acid that leads to the order.

  1. Ingredients are designed to prevent fat loss that you have absorbed through the diet.
  2. Other tablets should help alleviate appetite.
  3. The latest trend is "fat pills", so pills that are supposedly fueling metabolism and additionally burn fat.

That's what Uwe Knop says: Ergo: Extremely dangerous to health. Diet pills from a pharmacy or pharmacy believe fast and easy weight loss without much effort, but they do not bring much in the long run. Great disappointment is inevitable.

The Verbraucherzentrale Hamburg examined the weight loss products and came to the conclusion that, depending on the composition, health risks such as increased risk of stroke and heart attack are at risk. Possible phenolphthalein may be carcinogenic. Depending on the side effects of the ingredients such as headache, diarrhea on the one hand or intestinal obstruction on the other hand is possible.

Weight loss by all means? Eco-Test tested 21 dietary supplements and shakes and came to a shocking conclusion: many of them contain prohibited and illegal substances that can cause serious side effects.

Vegan nutrition: basic knowledge is essential

This is how it works: In Germany it is estimated that between 0.1 and 1 percent of the population eat vegan. Strict vegans refrain from all animal foods and avoid animal-based materials such as wool, fur and skin.

That's what the expert says: "If you do not really know it and know which tablets you really need to take, you risk a complete lack of nutrition and adequate health problems in the medium and long term."

Master Cleanse: Dangerous Celebrity Diet

The principle of this diet: Drinks consisting of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and apricot pepper are drinked for a limited period of time. "Master Cleanse" should detoxify and detoxify the body.

Diet, which is advertised as a detoxification drug, is also very popular in Hollywood stars – stars such as Heidi Klum and Beyonce should swear in the program.

Here's how Uwe Knop evaluates the "Master Cleanse" diet: "The mere assumption of a promise of" master cleansing "is a rough lie: you just have to be guided by a trained or supervised leader of the post, otherwise disappointment, eating disorders, and JoJo's effect comes as surely as Amen in the church."

Caution: Anyone who pervades this cure for more than ten days is at risk of weakness, tachycardia and organ failure.

Conclusion: Some children may be a health hazard

For nutritionists it is clear that in diets of disappointment is usually inevitable. "More than 90 percent of all weight loss attempts fail," says Uwe Knop. "A child is considered an initial level of drug in eating disorders and obesity."

Failures are high. But those failures trickle the way to the next diet trend, which then does not work again. Those affected are in a dangerous cycle that harms health more than they are using. Uwe Knop: "Diet is not recommended, because no one keeps what he promises."
