Cooking against raw food and the human brain – SciTech Culture 28

Hosted by Steve Kern and Ben Warner.
Choosing the right food and how to prepare yourself before eating are decisions that can have serious consequences for our health, both in the positive and the negative way, depending on how we do it. Suzana Herculano-Houzel gave TED Talk in 2013, claiming that what caused people to develop away from the apes and develop big brains was that we started preparing our food, which improved the efficiency we consume calories. On the other hand, the 2008 documentary "Food Questions" claims that raw food is the way it should go, and that actually cooked food can poison your body. Steve and Ben talk to both sides about this argument about cooked food, trying to dispel some myths about what we actually need our food every day.
