The Art of Life

Art of Life is a program that includes interactive, therapeutic, artistic activities that help normalize the hospital experience for children at the Aurora, Kolo Children's Hospital.

Children in the program are 8 to 20 years of age and have multiple diseases including diabetes, complicated brain injuries, muscular dystrophy and scoliosis.

"This program allows children to really be children and allows them to find out who they want to be besides a child who was ill," says Catherine Reed, art therapist and program manager of the Ponzio Artificial Arts program at the hospital. "They become an artist or a policeman or drummer, or indeed everything they dreamed of to achieve this dream through an individual artist."
