Heart Health Affected By Eating Red Meat?

Reducing meat consumption reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease

Consuming red meat has long been associated with an increased risk of diseases such as heart attack and stroke. A new study, however, suggests that the health benefits of meat abstinence are rather small. However, the American cardiologist explains that limiting the consumption of red meat is still important for heart health.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in the Western world. According to scientific research, approximately one in two deaths from such diseases could be avoided by eating healthier. According to experts, a healthy heart diet should contain an abundance of vegetables, fruits and whole grains and as little salt, saturated fat and alcohol as possible. Reducing the consumption of red meat is also important for heart health. Stephen Kopecky, cardiologist at the prestigious Mayo Clinic (USA).

Reduce your health risk with a Mediterranean diet

Is it OK to eat meat when it comes to heart health? "Reducing meat consumption has been helpful in several studies," Dr. Kopecky explains in the post. According to the doctor, meat, especially red and processed meat, is associated with an increased risk of many health problems, including heart attack and stroke.

"Everyone, from the World Health Organization to the American Cancer Society, said, 'Don't eat so much processed meat. Don't eat that much red meat. "Kopecký. People eating foods based on the Mediterranean diet (with lots of vegetables, fruits, fish and olive oil) are at lower risk for many health problems."
