Many of the scars treatments and remedies are also effective in old scars. While it is easier to fade or remove newer scars or even prevent scars, old scars are a particular challenge. The skin creates scar tissue when it comes to skin injury, such as accidental or surgical cuts. Not all scar remedies work for everyone. It is usually trial and error until one finds a drug that reduces or removes scarring on the body.

Visit a plastic surgeon. A plastic surgeon has some techniques to remove or fade the scars. Chemical peels place strong acid on the skin. The acid burns the upper layer of the skin. When the skin heals, the scar is less noticeable. Laser rejuvenation accelerates the renewal of the skin with the heat of the laser beam. The treatments at the doctor's office offer the best chance of reducing or removing the scars caused by the cuts. But these methods are also the most expensive scar treatments available.
