A cold or flu infection should not be confused with the right flu, says AOK. The real flu is caused by flu viruses, colds from over 30 different types of viruses.
Last year, the health insurance company in the rural districts of Calw, Freudenstadt, Rottweil, Schwarzwald-Baar and Zollernalb numbered about 8,300 influenza insureds. Flu viruses beat fast and violent. Flu symptoms include fever between 38 and 40 degrees or more, muscle and joint pain, headache, and a generally strong feeling of weakness.
The vaccine provides protection against real flu. Because it takes the body about 14 days to produce enough antibodies to protect it, you should be vaccinated before the flu season. So it's best in the fall. The Permanent Vaccination Commission recommends the annual flu vaccination for those who are threatening to become more severe: people over 60 and those with chronic conditions such as asthma, cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Workers in kindergartens, hospitals and nursing homes should also be vaccinated to protect themselves – but also not to infect supervised children or patients with the virus.
