In the current reporting, however, only Wilke products are mentioned. Why?
The fact is that much of the goods in question were processed and sold through caterers, restaurants, sausage counters and butchers. This Wilke merchandise was most likely housed with sausage products and other foods in kitchens, storefronts, refrigerators and warehouses.
This increases the likelihood that "Wilke Listeria" is switched to other products. It is sufficient to cut, for example, a sausage that has been hit by a cutting machine and stuffed with listeria and is not immediately intensely cleaned. Of course, this also applies to the purchase of contaminated kitchen goods at home.
Although only very small amounts of germs are carried in such a case, Listeria grows at temperatures between -0.4 and 45 ° C. This means that it also increases in the refrigerator. From a microbial count of more than 100 cfu / g, this becomes dangerous to humans. Listeria breeds even in inhospitable conditions such as vacuum food.
Therefore, it is important to adequately heat foods such as raw dairy products, smoked salmon, raw sausage or sliced stuffed sausages (70 ° C for at least 2 minutes) before eating them, which is generally impossible with these products.
This information is especially important for pregnant women!
The onset of the disease can occur from 1 week to 70 days. In addition to gastrointestinal symptoms (gastrointestinal symptoms), Listeria can cause sepsis (blood poisoning) or meningitis (meningitis), which can be treated with antibiotics. In individual cases, especially in susceptible individuals, a lower dose of infection cannot be ruled out, showed data from the Baden-Wuerttemberg Center for Animal Health and Safety (CVUA).
Minimum dose of infection, h. the number of germs that can lead to the disease is unknown ** and appears to depend on the bacterial strain and susceptibility of the person.

Pregnant women, the elderly, especially those with weak immune systems, can also develop more serious illnesses with blood poisoning and meningitis. In pregnant women, an unborn baby can be harmed, even without symptoms. Pregnant women who have consumed the affected products should seek medical advice and symptom-free treatment.
Listeria is a so-called ubiquitous germ, bacteria that can be detected almost everywhere. Currently, infections can be treated with antibiotics, but a study from Austria also shows antibiotic-resistant Listeria *.
Consumers and processors who have proven products in the household or workplace should take extensive hygiene measures in the kitchen.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), fourteen patients with Sigma1 listeriosis have died or been given information about their 2017 deaths

Ten cases of reporting listeriosis were not reported to have died from the direct or indirect consequences of listeriosis. In one patient it was not possible to determine the cause of death.
