While barely visible under the scalp, they are at least as painful and uncomfortable as normal patches: pimples on the scalp. We explain the causes behind skin problems, how to solve them, and when a doctor visit makes sense.
Causes: How to create pimples on your scalp
Whether on the face, back, or butt: pimples can really sprout up in every part of the body, thus not saving the scalp. They are usually noticed only when impurities have already ignited, become bright red between hairs and can even cause pain. Just like ordinary pimples on the face, these pustules on the head are often caused by dead skin cells, residual caregivers, dirt and sweat, which collect at the base, clog pores and catch fire in interaction with bacteria. Constantly wearing hats and eyelids encourages pimples on the scalp because they can no longer breathe enough and accumulate in the bacteria of the substance. Maybe the head dress is too strong and irritates the delicate hairline. By the way, this also applies to (new) detergents or aggressive care products: If the scalp reacts allergically to such substances, irritation, white pustules and pimples can be created.
Hormones also affect our scalp
Hormonal fluctuations, such as those caused by stress, hormonal contraception, menstruation or menopause, can also be the cause of nasty pimples. The observed hormonal balance usually enhances the production of sebum, which in turn leads to clogging of the pores.
Treat properly: This way you can get rid of pimples on your scalp
No matter what the cause behind acne – the best way to protect your head in the first step is to get rid of it quickly and avoid further impurities. Means: Wash your hair only every other day, without additional products such as hair spray and pause with thermal styling (hair dryer, iron, etc.) and hair dye. The cup itself can return to balance and the pustules will fade quickly.
Choose the right shampoo
Scalp pimples can be easily controlled with real shampoo. At best it cleans thoroughly but gently. Sulphate and perfume-free pH-neutral products are approximately optimal, and also help with impurities such as rosemary, salicylic acid, lavender oil or tea tree.
To help scalp a little more thoroughly from debris and dead skin scales, special scalp scrubs are great. Alternatively, a small massage with the tips of your fingers during shampooing is sufficient. Regular brushing also helps to distribute sebum evenly and encourage scalp circulation.
Chamomile remedy + tea tree oil
Chamomile remedy helps to relieve itching (often when acne heals) and soothe the scalp. To do this, pour a bowl of three bags of chamomile tea, allow to cool and massage the conditioning into the scalp at a lukewarm temperature. Allow it to dry on its own and not rinse. Tea tree oil optimally helps with still inflamed pimples. Just place a few drops on a cotton pad (preferably with a few drops of water diluted) and apply the affected area carefully. The oil has an anti-inflammatory effect, dries pimples and stimulates their healing process.
This is how you bend pimples on your scalp
The same goes for pimples on the scalp: prevention is better than cure. Therefore, it is best to pay attention in everyday life to not wash your hair too often and not too infrequently. As mentioned above, the shampoo should be mild and pH neutral, with no artificial additives. Scalp cleaning is regularly cleaned but not overused. After sports, however, shampooing is always a must, otherwise bacteria accumulate from sweat on the hairline. Headgear must also be washed regularly to prevent pimples.
Pimples on the scalp: When a medical examination pays
Scalp acne usually occurs sporadically and heals within a few days. If, on the other hand, an extremely large number of impurities develops or you do not want to disappear, a visit to the doctor makes sense. It could be a form of acne, bacterial inflammation of the hair follicles (also called folliculitis) or other skin diseases. There is also a need to better study allergic reactions that cause itching, as well as pimples that are wet or very painful.
