The following offerings, from the extraordinary landscapes of saunas, mud baths, salt water rollers to winter hiking, provide soothing light and warming moments in the dark and cold seasons.
Outside the nature and scenery of Upper Bavaria: between the mighty mountain ranges and the peaceful lakes, between meadows and forests, churches and monasteries nature plays a major role. The selected “Landscape Cinemas and Oberbayern Trails” feature special light spots, varied landscapes, landscaped trails, and landmarks along routes. Whether hiking at Watzmannblick or strolling through the winter Karwendel – the 16 landscape cinema paths dispel the worries of daily living, and the movement helps counter seasonal lack of motivation. If you prefer to ski, explore the upper Bavarian winter landscape on 15 landscape cinema trails. Beginners as well as aspiring overseas professionals can look forward to well-maintained trails with ease of accessibility, careful signage and associated restaurants.
For those who want to relax and recharge their batteries, the Upper Bavarian regions offer special high-level wellness offers. The RupertusTherme Spa & Family Resort in Bad Reichenhall is known for its breathtaking glass fronts with uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains. Bad Reichenhall also offers a package for relaxed girls' days under the motto "Clean Women's Activity", which includes, among other things, cosmetic treatments and a gondola ride on the Predigtstuhl with a glass of Prosecco. In Berchtesgaden, salt plays a central role – also in the wellness area. The first experience will be on November 16 at Salzheilstollen Berchtesgaden, 800 meters deep in the mountain. In the midst of a 250 million-year-old salt dome, you can relax wrapped in comfortable blankets in the dim light of salt lamps and listen to the unique sound of UR-TON drums.
On Therma Erding antistress days, recovery, relaxation, and deceleration are on the program. Here, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in collaboration with external experts in relaxation therapy, ways of reducing and preventing stress are presented. On weekends between November and January, as well as Carnival and Easter holidays, sound therapist Thomas Kox creates unique sound spaces, creating a fascinating effect of sound and rhythm on body and consciousness.
In the Chiemsee-Alpenland region, Moorheilbad Bad Aibling and Bad Feilnbach provide the guest with a comfortable experience of 42 degrees of warmth. Mud penetrates the skin's deeper layers of tissue and causes rapid detoxification and purification of the body. In 2020, Bad Aibling Moor Bath, the oldest of its kind, celebrates its 175th anniversary, while the Bad Aibling Spa may be 125 years old in the coming year.
Sauna Tegernsee Monte Mare Lake has long become a classic in terms of recreation of mind, soul and body, where guests experience an exclusive world of well-being with direct access to the lake. In addition to the six individual saunas and the steam bath, the 17-meter long Irmingard saunas are still prominent. The ship has been at Chiemsee for many years, the anchor landed in 2008 in front of the Monte Mare and has since been used as a sauna ship. A visit to the sauna is especially nice in the evening, when the lights of the surrounding communities shine in the lake. Valley East, Monte Mare Schliersee offers a special relaxation program for the weekend: Every Saturday from 7pm to 12pm guests can enjoy a candle bath and play music at Vitaltherme. There are also cocktails, delicious burgers and snacks. On November 8 and December 13, the sauna is long, then the sauna world is open until 2am.
The sauna with the Lechtalbad fireplace in Kaufering in the Ammersee-Lech region is a pleasant place to escape from the daily stress, especially during the winter months. Here, the crackling of wood fire and the flickering light of the fireplace create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The bamboo sauna, relaxation and adventure, as well as the steam bath, provide a soothing holiday.
In Pfaffenwinkel, guests choose from the Amani Spa's African Sauna at the 1,500-square-foot Spa Hotel Parkhotel am Soier See, a well-designed sauna at the Plantsch Family and Adventure Pool in Schongau and on-farm wellness treatments: For example, tourists can cheer the Bussjägerhof in Böbing relax in the organic pool or enjoy a soothing massage at the cozy Saunastadl.
The theme of health and slowness is also in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen center, you can walk here from 1987 on prescription. Garmisch-Partenkirchen Barrier-free Healthcare provides a wide range of health classes, courses and workshops on health, movement and wellness at the spa.
