Paula's choice tested with 10% AHA exfoliation: how good is it?

Chemical facial scrubs are considered a beauty secret for radiant skin. But how good are the products in the app? The Gofemin community has tested Paul's Choice 10% AHA scrub for you. Here's the result!

True beauty fans have long since said goodbye to mechanical scrubs. Instead, they swear by chemical exfoliation to make their skin glow. Because acid scrubs need to do much more than remove dead skin cells. Wrinkles, blemishes and irregularities in skin tone should announce the fight.

But how do chemical peels actually affect our skin? And do the products really do what they promise? Our community took a closer look at Paul's Choice acid peeling "Resistance to Aging 10% AHA". But before we get to the test result, we will tell you what you need to know about chemical peels.

How does chemical peeling work?

Who wants to do something good on their skin, usually resorting to mechanical exfoliation. It contains small flakes, such as from nuts or crushed apricot kernels, but often also from microplastics. Due to friction on the skin, peeling particles need to release scales and dry spots – but only superficially. In addition, your skin may be damaged by rough particles.

Chemical peels give off peeling particles. Instead, it works with alpha hydroxy acid or beta hydroxy acid (briefly AHA or BHA), which exfoliates our skin. This means that they help to reactivate the natural process of dandruff. Exfoliants gently remove dead skin cells – without any aggressive scratches – to remove new healthy skin. The pale and gloomy color again looks fresh and radiant.

In addition, they should visibly reduce clogged pores and make pigmentation as well as changes in skin color. Wrinkles and sun damage should be mitigated by exfoliation.

AHA and BHA Exfoliation: What's the Difference?

AHAs include, for example, glycolic acid, fumaric acid and lactic acid. BHA is also known as salicylic acid. AHA and BHA have different effects on our skin:

This is how AHA exfoliation works:
Exfoliation with glycol or fruit acid is recommended for normal and dry skin types. It only acts on the surface of the skin and promotes the formation of new skin cells. It is also intended to reduce wrinkles, small scars and age spots.

This is how PHA exfoliation works:
Salicylic acid exfoliation has anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore recommended especially for skin types that are prone to impurities. Acid penetrates the surface of the skin and reduces redness, irritation and pimples and blackheads in deeper layers of skin.

I like that! I never thought my skin felt so great after application. It's a little sticky at first, but you get used to it quickly. The product is very economical thanks to the pipette. I even bought it because I am very pleased. Try!

Sandra M .:
Super consistency, pleasant scent. Easy to apply. Plus, without animal testing, you might want more. My skin exfoliation is super tolerable and after about 2 weeks of use, it was very soft. My otherwise unclean skin was no longer blackmailed. An absolute recommendation!

Katharina Z .:
I have very sensitive skin and that is why I always have to be careful. The product more than surprised me! I have a softer complexion, which is almost impossible with my rosacea.
Just recommended!

Sandra W .:
The product actually surprised me. The application is very simple and the texture of the scrub is super light. It absorbs quickly and leaves a pleasant feeling on the skin.
At first I was a little skeptical of my sensitive skin, but I couldn't stand any intolerance, redness or anything like that. notice. On the contrary: my skin was smoother and lighter after only a short time. I'm excited.

There are many cosmetic products on the market. Everyone promises a lot, but the results don't come. But not with this product. The skin really shines really brightly, the scales melt away in no time. Before the test, I knew neither Paula's choice nor the product and was glad to test it. It will be an integral part of my routine care!

Katharina B.:
Overall, I was very pleased with the product and especially the ease of use. I also like that the product does not smell or smell good.
I wonder how long the bottle will last and I think I'll buy it myself afterwards.

Noticeable results! I tried Paul's Choice products for the first time and I'm so glad I did. It only bites when I apply it at night. When I wake up in the morning, I really see the difference. My skin is brighter, clearer and smoother. I plan to buy more products from Paul's Choice line.

I have been testing the product for about 3 weeks. Use it once a day. The product is definitely not a panacea, which has an effect after one or two uses – quite frankly it cannot be. The pipette is super convenient for dosing. The product is lightweight and absorbs well. For me it burns very easily on the skin. But it passes after a few seconds.

What I've definitely noticed now over the course of three weeks is that it loosens my skin cells, so my skin looks much more even. My skin is not as dry as 3 weeks ago. That's great. Otherwise I couldn't find any other changes in the weather. I still use it because the first effects are promising. You also need to try nursing for weeks and months to see the result.
