2020, another bright year for executives? This is what one might think when reading the figures from the Expectra barometer, relayed by Le Figaro. Their median annual salary would be 46,846 euros. A figure up 2.30% which should however be observed with caution. These data correspond to the beginning of the year, before the economic crisis linked to the coronavirus pandemic, at a time when their unemployment was particularly low (3.5%).

This would be the third consecutive year of increase since their median salary had already climbed by 2.4% in 2019 and 2.7% in 2018. If we are already seeing a slowdown from one year to the next, the figures for 2020 could well be in trompe l’oeil. The economic crisis linked to the health crisis will complicate things in several sectors such as aeronautics and tourism. However, negotiating a higher salary is easier in a competitive environment. Managers may also change employers less often. Certain profiles have succeeded particularly well in doing well. The best paid are the management control managers: 53,820 euros (+ 6%). We can also talk about maintenance engineers who have been increased by 6.7% on average, for a median salary of 43,660 euros. Method engineers earn a little less (42,930 euros), but have experienced a similar increase.

Maintenance specialists and digital profiles could thus benefit from the situation. “The digital transformation of companies is going faster than the skills available. The pandemic has pushed them to accelerate this transition. This movement will strengthen the war for talents while profiles are very rare in this field”, continues the specialist.
